Biography

Artist statement

There is commonality in the way we feel attachment to our surrounds.

The landscape reflects deeply who we are; it is bound to our need for a sense of identity and belonging. Our stories and the things of which memories are made are intimately connected with the land.

Stephanie’s etchings examine the meaning of place. Recollections of an English childhood are entwined with the Australian landscape. In forests, in woods or on riverbanks, history is told though branches, bark, leaves and undergrowth. Fragments bring memories of place and time. Each viewer brings their own story and makes a connection with their own memories.
